Your ticket to the most sought-after jobs on the cutting edge of engineering, technology, and science – with a full tuition scholarship.

Bar-Ilan University, a leader in innovation, scientific excellence and social involvement, invites olim chadashim (new immigrants to Israel) to enroll in a prestigious, selective, academic program on our beautiful campus – a three-year course of study leading to an MSc in Information Processing, Data Science, and Bioengineering.

The courses are taught by top-quality instructors from elite institutions in Israel and abroad, among them internationally-renowned researchers. The program offers employment guidance to facilitate career advancement in research and development (R&D), as well as integration into Israeli and international firms.

Year 1
During the first year of the program, introductory and prerequisite courses will be taught in English, while students improve their Hebrew at Ulpan (center for intensive Hebrew language instruction).

Year 2
Students transition to degree studies in Hebrew, with reinforcement in the language.

Years 2 and 3
During the second and third year, students write a thesis. It is a meaningful academic experience that involves work in research labs and can be a first step toward a PhD.

Tuition
Tuition for this program is fully subsidized for olim (immigrants). Costs for on-campus housing are listed below.

Guidance, Support, and Activities
Students will have access to a counselor to guide and support them through their studies. They will also receive subsidized tutoring, where necessary. Activities include social events on campus, trips around the country, and seminars and lectures to prepare for independent life in Israel.

Admission Requirements
* Undergraduate GPA of at least 85 (3.0 on a four-point scale) in a relevant field: Engineering, Exact Sciences, or Life Sciences.
* Academic transcripts are subject to approval by the Faculty of Engineering.
* English-speaking olim, from any country of origin, who have been in Israel for up to 18 months, are eligible.

Students who speak English as a second language will require a language test. Find out more here.

Housing
We offer on-campus housing in a new high-rise building adjacent to the Faculty of Engineering.

The approximate cost of housing is NIS 1,200-1,600 per month (utilities – gas, water, electricity – are not included in the price).

Students do not have to live on campus. There are many apartments for rent close to the university.

Once your “Absorption Basket” payments (olim are eligible for financial aid in the first six months of their Aliyah) have ceased, as a student in this program, you will receive a housing subsidy of NIS 550 per month, for 10 months – if you live in dorm or you have an apartment lease in your name.

Program starting date: October 2020

Communication

About

The School of Communication at Bar-Ilan University is one of the few academic institutions in the world to offer research and training in International Communications and Public Diplomacy. It aims to empower Israel’s future generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for Israel across the globe. As a part of the BA program, students are offered the opportunity to immerse themselves in workshops on how to effectively convey messages and build a positive public image for anyone from brands, to themselves. The workshops, offered in areas relating to New Media, Advertising, Public Relations and Broadcast Media, are instructed by individuals considered professionals in their fields.

Why Study Communication

Communication is all around us. We use it every day without even noticing; we maintain personal communications with our family and friends, we consume mass media, and we create and participate in social networks.

Communication studies are intended for those who want to influence and leave their mark on the world, who wish to take part in making tomorrow’s news — today. In order to accomplish that, one has to understand the media: Why is the same topic presently differently from one media outlet to another? What makes Google or Facebook so popular? Which medium is more influential – cinema, TV, radio, internet, or maybe the mobile phone? If you are interested in these questions – your place is with us.

Unparalleled Expertise

Bar-Ilan University has over 30 years of experience in teaching communication, and prides itself with hundreds of B.A. and M.A. graduates. The faculty members of the School of Communication and related units are internationally renowned researchers and lecturers, with extensive experience in all fields of communication: print press, TV, radio, advertising, marketing, public relations, spokesman ship and new media.

Ample Career Opportunities

Our graduates are sought after and well established in all fields of communications, both locally and globally. Many work in advertising or public relations offices, some in radio or TV stations, others in various websites, and a significant number in the press. Many of our graduates are media consultants in government or private offices, while others have chosen to pursue an academic research and teaching career.

During the third year of studies, our BA students can already participate in our internship program, in which they intern in different media organizations such as PR offices, news websites, government offices and others. Through the program, the students gain practical experience in the field and acquire important tools which will assist them in their future careers.
