In a bid to deepen ties and explore new opportunities, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Israel, Daulet Yemberdiyev, embarked on a visit to Bar-Ilan University. The purpose of this visit was to familiarize himself with the university, reinforce existing partnerships between Kazakhstan and Bar-Ilan, and seek out new avenues of collaboration with higher education institutions in the country.
Accompanying Ambassador Daulet Yemberdiyev from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan were Mukhtar Yskak, Counselor, and Abzal Sariyev, Third Secretary; a delegation keen on reinforcing the relationship between Kazakhstan and Israel in the field of education.
Exploring Bar-Ilan University
During the visit, the delegation was engaged in a series of enriching activities aimed at enhancing their understanding of Bar-Ilan University’s academic landscape. The agenda included a visit to the university’s solar farms, where they were guided by Dr. Hadas Alon-Yechezkel from the Department of Chemistry. This provided the delegation with valuable insights into Bar-Ilan’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The delegation also had the opportunity to gain an overview of the Center for Energy and Sustainability. They visited the Energy Lab, led by Prof. Doron Aurbach, also from the Department of Chemistry. This visit allowed the delegation to explore the groundbreaking research being conducted in the field of energy and sustainability at the university.
Additionally, the delegation visited the prestigious Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA). They were accompanied by Prof. Eitan Shamir, the Director of the Center, who provided valuable insights into the strategic aspects of the region.

To further expand their knowledge, the delegation also visited the Institute of Nano Technology and Advanced Materials. Kazakhstani, Dr. Madina Telkhozhayeva, a postdoctoral researcher in the Analysis Unit and Nanofabrication, guided them through the institute, showcasing the cutting-edge advancements in nanotechnology.
Strengthening Ties and Forging New Partnerships
The event concluded with a meeting attended by the Kazakhstani delegation and key figures from Bar-Ilan University. This included Prof. Arie Zaban, the President of the university; Prof. Shulamit Michaeli, the Vice-President for Research; Prof. Rivka Tuval-Maschiach, the Academic Head of the International School; Ofer Dahan, the Executive Director of the International School; and Yael Toledano, Director of International Relations. The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss future collaborations and solidify the existing partnerships between Bar-Ilan University and Kazakhstan institutions.
Ambassador Daulet Yemberdiyev’s visit to Bar-Ilan reflects the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering academic collaboration between the two nations.
