Bar-Ilan University and the International School have had a busy and interesting year despite the current situation. While all health and safety requirements have been followed, we have had the privilege of welcoming many international guests to our beautiful campus for visits and events, while also hosting many online.

We welcomed the Ambassador of India to Israel, Sanjeev Kumar Singla, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Israel, Hans Docter, the Israeli Minister of Higher Education and of Water Resources, Zeev Elkin, the Israeli Minister of Science and Technology, Yizhar Shai, and Israeli Minister of Communications, Yoaz Hendel. Israeli Minister of Communications Visits Bar-Ilan Campus
The Bar-Ilan Center for Smart Cities recently hosted Israeli Minister of Communications, Yoaz Hendel. During the visit, the Minister was shown innovative technologies and approaches for current and future urban space management, whose implementation is being tested on the university campus. Read More
Senior Israeli Higher Education Officials Visit Bar-Ilan University
In July, Bar-Ilan University President, Prof. Arie Zaban, hosted Minister of Higher Education and of Water Resources, Zeev Elkin, Council for Higher Education (CHE) Planning and Budgeting Committee Chair, Prof. Yaffa Zilbershats, and Vice-Chair Prof. Ido Perlman on campus. Read More
Joint International Academic Webinar
In June, Bar-Ilan University (BIU) held a joint webinar with New York University (NYU), Oxford University, which was organized by the Israeli Consulate in New York.
The topic: “No Exit? Three International Experts’ Mathematical Models on Lifting the Lockdown.”
The international panel included BIU’s Dr. Baruch Barzel, Prof. Joshua Epstein, Professor of Epidemiology at the NYU School of Public Health and Director of the NYU Agent-Based Modeling Laboratory; and Prof. Michael Bonsall, Professor of Mathematical Biology at Oxford University.
The three discussed their mathematical models, which display how to safely resume normal activities while not spreading the virus. The event was moderated by Dr. Micaela E. Martinez, Infectious Disease Ecologist, and Professor at Columbia University in New York.

Other Events
Other events over the past few months have included various virtual fairs and open days to introduce potential students to Bar-Ilan University’s International School programs (undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate) as well as the Erasmus+ and Study Abroad programs.
Upcoming events include the second Attachés’ Conference; the Ambassadors’ Forum; and a special orientation day for all incoming international students in October.
