Life Sciences fulfill a major role in the development of humanity in the 21st century. The challenges we face are becoming increasingly tougher – the questions are becoming broader while the answers need to be more focused.
Simultaneously, scientists are developing unique research instruments that are unimaginably sophisticated in order to cope with these threatening problems, which in the past were thought to be hopeless.
This is a battlefield that is fitting for young and enthusiastic people, who will acquire comprehensive and in-depth knowledge in the different and exciting branches of biology: biochemistry, biophysics, computational biology, molecular genetics, ecology, plant sciences, microbiology, immunology, neurobiology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and more.
The mission of the Mina and Everard Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences at Bar-Ilan University is to impart biological knowledge and scientific education based on modern research.
In addition to imparting knowledge, we strive to arouse the curiosity of our students and cultivate their intellectual and cultural growth. We help them advance their technical abilities in laboratory work and field research, hone their abilities to critically analyze scientific information, and enhance their problem-solving skills while strengthening their awareness of the preservation of the environment.
The Life Sciences Faculty offers an outstanding research and technology environment in English for MSc students.
We are seeking highly motivated candidates of academic excellence to undertake leading research projects. International students are encouraged to apply and are warmly welcomed.
Full-time commitment to your research is essential. Study fees are therefore waived for MSc students, and scholarships (a monthly stipend) are available for highly-qualified candidates.
The Faculty includes more than 45 top researchers, who are experts in their fields. Each of them heads an active and lively research group, which includes colleagues, technicians, and graduate students.
The various fields in the Faculty of Life Sciences are divided into several major research categories:
Duration of Studies: 2 years
A. M.Sc. study begins in the fall semester.
B. Minimum grade average 80 in the Bachelor studies.
C. All students applying for an M.Sc. degree must pass an entrance exam which will test his understanding of a scientific article. The candidate must register for the exam in the Student Secretarial Office (Ms. Drora Snitkov).
B.Sc Honors students who got an exemption from this exam must register to the M.Sc during the time frame they were told.
For additional details on the exam check out The news at the faculty website, The Secretarial Announcements For Students Forum at the Synapse and also the bulletin boards in the Life Sciences Building (212) on the first floor, and next to the Secretariat on the second floor.
D. In parallel to registering and taking the exam, the candidate must look for a supervisor.

E. It is impossible to be involved in research without dedicating a significant amount of time to getting constantly updated on the latest innovations on the subject of the research, and this beyond the actual work and the courses. The significance of this requirement is that the student must invest 100% of his time to his research work and studies. It is almost impossible to meet these requirements and at the same time, hold another job.
F. The M.Sc. studies must be finished within two years, including the research work and thesis-writing. If the student had been required to take a year of supplementary study, it is not included in this two-year period. To the detailed core courses of the supplementary program.
