Bar-Ilan University is launching six new degree options for international and olim (immigrant) students. These include five undergraduate degrees (four for English speakers and one for Russian speakers) and one graduate degree.
The new undergraduate programs have been created for non-Hebrew-speaking students whose aim is to study in Hebrew eventually, whether they are international students who are in Israel only for their studies or olim students who have already made Aliyah (immigrated to Israel) or are planning it.
There are four new degrees available for English speakers including a BSc in Computer Science; a BSc in Engineering; a BSc in Life Sciences (Pre-Med); and an LLB (Bachelor of Laws). Russian speakers have the option to choose a BSc in Mathematics and Physics. In addition, the university has launched a new graduate degree – an International MBA with a certificate in Cybersecurity. Hebrew Ulpan is optional for this program as all courses will be taught in English.
During the first year of their undergraduate degree, students will take all their courses in English (or Russian) while attending an intensive Hebrew Ulpan (language course), and then, in the second year, they will switch to Hebrew for the balance of their studies.
Benefits for Olim Students
BIU has partnered with the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration (MOIA) and the Israel Student Authority (ISA) to facilitate the smooth absorption of olim (immigrants) students and help them integrate into Israeli society.
The Student Authority supports students who choose to make Aliyah or are already in Israel by providing them with assistance to enable them to succeed in their studies. This assistance includes a full-tuition scholarship for eligible* olim students between 21 and 35 who start their studies within 36 months of receiving their new immigrant status.
* Eligibility conditions are subject to the basic assistance rules of the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration as well as the current guidelines and procedures of the Israel Student Authority.
If you are a new immigrant, you can find out if you are eligible for assistance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration by getting in touch with the Israel Student Authority directly.
