Professors, management, and other members of staff from the University of Strasbourg (Unistra), France, visited Bar-Ilan University in May 2022. The visit, which was hosted by the International School, was the first since BIU and Unistra signed an agreement in June last year to offer the first-ever joint MSc in Chemoinformatics between an Israeli and French university.
This visit marked the official launch of the joint MSc, which now involves an agreement with a consortium of 10 universities (Bar-Ilan and nine from Europe), who together won the EU’s highly sought-after Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) grant at the end of 2021.
Three delegations visited the BIU campus. The first included management and other leaders from Unistra and was hosted by BIU’s Deputy President, Prof. Moshe Lewenstein; the second was from Unistra’s Chemistry Department and was hosted by Prof. Hanoch Senderowitz, Head of BIU’s Chemistry Department; and the third was from the Department of French Literature and was hosted by Prof. Galia Yanoshevski, Associate Professor in BIU’s French Department. The two departmental groups included members of Erasmus Plus, the EU’s exchange program.
Several BIU students will be going to Unistra for the fall semester as part of the Erasmus Plus program. Further trips have also been planned for professors, researchers, and others from both countries to visit their counterparts in chemistry, law, and other relevant fields.
