Spring Semester 2026 – Student FAQ | Academic Updates During Operation “Roaring Lion”

We know this is a difficult time for many of you. The university has adjusted the academic schedule to help you continue your studies while taking the current situation into account. Below are answers to the most common questions.

The university understands that this is a challenging time. Every effort is being made to support students and ensure that academic progress can continue despite the circumstances.

All policies remain subject to the security situation and Home Front Command instructions, and updates will be shared as needed.

Semester Start and Classes

When does the Spring Semester begin?

The Spring Semester will begin on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Will classes be online or on campus?

During the first week, all classes will take place via Zoom because of the security situation.

Your lecturers will send you the Zoom links and instructions for joining the sessions.

The university hopes to return to in-person teaching the following week, depending on Home Front Command guidelines.

Is the campus open?

Yes. The campus is open for students who need access to facilities, laboratories, or study spaces.

Please make sure you are aware of the location of shelters and protected spaces.

Most administrative staff and libraries are currently working remotely, so many services will continue to be provided online.

What should I do if there is a siren during a Zoom class?

Your safety is the priority.

If a siren sounds, immediately follow Home Front Command instructions and go to the nearest protected space. The lecturer will pause the class if needed.

What happened to the exams that were postponed?

Exams that were scheduled from the beginning of the operation until March 15 have been postponed.

They are expected to take place during a special exam completion period:

April 10 to April 20, 2026

During this period there will be no regular classes, so students can focus on their exams.

A new exam schedule will be published soon.

The exam dates in Inbar look strange. Are they correct?

No. The dates currently shown in Inbar for postponed Tomax exams are placeholders and should be ignored. The correct schedule will be published soon.

When will classes resume after the exam period?

Classes will resume after the exam completion period and Independence Day, starting April 23, 2026, and will continue until July 1, 2026.

At this stage, the semester is not expected to extend into the summer.

Will the semester be shorter than usual?

Yes.

Because of the schedule adjustments:

  • Courses meeting Sunday to Wednesday will meet 12 times.

  • Courses meeting Thursday and Friday will meet 11 times.

Lecturers will adjust the course material accordingly.

Will lectures be recorded?

Yes.

All lectures will be recorded and uploaded to Lamda. This allows students who cannot attend live sessions, including those serving in reserve duty, to watch the lecture later.

What about laboratory courses or practical training?

Courses that require laboratory work or in-person training will take place once in-person teaching becomes possible again.

Departments will inform students if make-up sessions are required.

Currently, practical training in fields such as medicine, health professions, education, therapy, and social welfare may continue if a protected space is accessible during alerts.

What happens to assignment deadlines that were affected by the situation?

Lecturers will announce new submission deadlines for assignments that were postponed.

Can I register for advanced courses if my prerequisite exam has not yet taken place?

Yes.

Students may register for advanced courses even if the prerequisite exam was postponed.

Last semester was my final semester. What if my grades are delayed?

You can submit your graduation request now.

The Registrar’s Office will process your degree once the delayed exam grades are received. Exams for students completing their degree will be prioritized for grading.

When will the Changes (add/drop) period take place?

A final decision about the Changes Period has not yet been announced. It may be extended due to the schedule adjustments. Updates will be shared soon.

Are there accommodations for students affected by the war?

Yes.

The Academic Vest framework remains in effect. It provides accommodations for students serving in reserve duty, in regular military or security service, and for others directly affected by the war.

Students whose homes were damaged and who had to evacuate are also included. These students should contact the Dean of Students Office.

Where can I receive emotional support?

Students experiencing emotional distress can contact the Student Psychological Counseling Service.
