The Prestige policy is a yearly policy that offers continuity of medical coverage from one year to the next. You can purchase the policy for one year, no less. The yearly premium per insured is 4708.5 NIS. You can shorten the policy any time if you will leave Israel before the expiration date of the policy. (You will get a refund for the days after the cancellation date). It is the recommended policy for full-time students that intend to come to Israel for at least one year (e.g., Undergraduates, Graduates, Postdocs etc.). The Prestige is the most comprehensive policy in Israel for students and scientists and you can find attached the extra coverage it offers compared to the UMS policy.
The UMS policy is a short-term policy. If you decide to purchase the UMS policy, please note that in every renewal you will need to fill in a new health declaration, and in the new policy you will purchase, preexisting medical conditions will not be covered. The UMS policy does not offer continuity in the medical coverage from one policy to the next. The UMS policy is recommended to scientists and students who come to Israel for a short-term period, up to one year. The daily premium of the UMS policy is 11.06 NIS per insured. (4036.59 NIS per year).
The insurance premium is per day in New Israel Shekels, linked to the consumer price index and to the index of the month of April 2023. (Points 592.5142)
Once again, we recommend for PHD students, postdoc, and to students that plan to stay in Israel for more than one year, to purchase the Prestige policy. Attached please find the summary of coverage of the two polices. Both plans cover Covid-19. Please note that you can shorten the policy anytime as long as you leave Israel before the end date of the policy.
