Visiting/ Exchange students
If you are registered as a student in a university outside of Israel, and are interested in spending a semester or a year in Bar-Ilan university, you can come under the framework of Visiting or Exchange student.
Student Exchange
Bar-Ilan University has exchange agreements with several universities in Europe, under the auspice of Erasmus+ program. For the list of universities click here (missing link). In order to come to Bar-Ilan on an Erasmus+ scholarship, please follow the application process of your home institution. Visiting Student
If you are not eligible for Erasmus+ exchange program and would still like to study a few courses or participate in a research lab as part of your degree from another university, you may do so in the framework of visiting student. Registration as a visiting student will grant you a student card and a transcript of records in English. Visa and Medical Insurance
All visiting students must enter Israel with a student visa, which can be obtained at the local Israeli consulate based on a letter of acceptance which you can receive from your host department or form the International Office. For more information about the visa application process click here
All visiting students must obtain a medical insurance policy prior to their arrival in Israel and will be required to present it upon their arrival. For more information see here
Fees
Visiting students pay per course, for the number of courses that they take. The cost is 850 shekel for each one-semester course. Payment may be made by bank transfer or check.
Students who are visiting to participate in lab research, must be registered to at least one course each semester for the duration of their visit, for the same cost mentioned above. The course should be selected in conjunction with the host professor.
Application Process
Students applying for a visiting/Exchange student status must fill in the application form and send it to the Bar-Ilan International office. In addition to the form, the following documents must be provided:
- A clear photo of the passport personal data page
2. Proof of payment/Learning agreement for exchange students (In some cases the payment can be made upon arrival) - A- passport photo for the student card (can be provided upon arrival)
- in case of a lab visit- a letter of approval from the host professor/department.
As part of the application process, the number of courses and credit conversion must be determined, in communication between the home and the host institution. (see Credit conversion and transcript of records for more information)
Credit conversion and transcript of records
Visiting students are eligible for a transcript of record In English, detailing the courses studied during the visit to Bar-Ilan. The transcript is issued 30 days after the course requirement have been filled and can be mailed to the home institution upon request.

The office of the academic secretary in conjunction with the International office can provide a letter explaining the conversion rate to European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
The number of courses and credit conversion must be worked out in detail before the student’s arrival, in order to assure that sufficient number of courses are being taken to fulfill the credit requirement of the home institution. For more information please contact [email protected]
