American Jewish Committee (AJC) led an academic mission with 12 university presidents and other senior administrators to Israel in July. The delegation, which included leaders from Johns Hopkins University, University of Washington, Pratt Institute, University of Vermont, Indiana University, the University of North Carolina System, and the University of Missouri System, visited Bar-Ilan University (BIU) as part of their trip.
Prof. Moshe Lewenstein, BIU’s Deputy President, and Prof. Rachel Dekel, Academic Head of the International School, welcomed the delegation and gave a presentation about Bar-Ilan University, the International School, the university’s faculties and research facilities, international degrees, student life, and more.
Prof. Zeev Zalevsky, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, spoke about the faculty and all the interesting programs and innovative research taking place.
UnBox Ventures’ Director, Ariel Sella, provided an overview of UnBox Ventures, BIU’s incubator for researchers and entrepreneurs, which creates, curates, and invests in research-based startups that focus on health (in body, mind, soul, society) and the environment.
Dr. Elad Segal, CEO of DriftSense, one of the UnBox startups, joined the group and gave a quick presentation about the company, which minimizes the loss of sprayed pesticides and makes sure that people in the fields and their vicinity, as well as the natural environment, remain safe. The company’s solutions are based on state-of-the-art technologies in analytical chemistry, and meteorological and dispersion modeling science.
