The BA in English Literature and Linguistics at Bar-Ilan University is a double major instructed fully in English, designed for students seeking to master the structure of human language while developing exceptional analytical and writing capabilities.
Within the Department of English Literature and Linguistics, the literary curriculum explores the history and evolution of English and American literature. You will learn from internationally recognized faculty and be part of a culturally diverse and supportive academic community. To earn a BA in English Literature and Linguistics, students must complete a total of 52 academic credits. These are comprised of: 20 English Literature credits, 19 Linguistics credits, 10 Judaic Studies credits, 3 General Studies credits.
Judaic Studies Requirement
Jewish students are required to complete 10 credits of Judaic Studies courses. These are academic courses in a variety of fields within the Faculty of Jewish Studies. Students who are not Jewish are not required to take these courses and may convert these 10 credits into additional General Studies courses by contacting their program coordinator.
General Studies Requirement
Students are required to take 3 credits of general courses. These can be selected from over 6,000 courses offered across the university, provided they are unrelated to your double major and are not Judaic Studies courses. Students who possess a minimum Level 4 Hebrew proficiency are welcome to take these courses in Hebrew.
